![]() We’ll continue NE on TN330 to Dutch Valley where we’ll join TN116 and head NW. Oliver Springs is the southernmost point on a great ride known as the Devil’s Triangle. ![]() From there continue east through the winding hills and rejoin TN62 just west of Oliver Springs where there are couple of nice places to stop if you’re inclined. We’ll start in the parking lot of the Baymont by Wyndham motel and head southeast down to the next exit to take TN298 over to Wartburg. Caution: There are many tight switchbacks and some substantial dropoffs without guardrails on this drive. Located between Nashville and Knoxville, this route starts and stops in Crossville, TN and is suitable for both cars and cycles. ![]() A 2-liter hydration vest and trekking poles are highly recommended for this epic endeavor.This veritable playground of hills, curves, loops and switchbacks is a hidden treasure of middle Tennessee. Water may be available along the trail at the beginning and end of the run, but is mostly unavailable along the ridge. The loop can be run in either direction, both beginning with a long series of switchbacks to the top of a ridge. If you can find parking near Big Cove Campground, you could also begin there. ![]() From this grandstand, you will have unparalleled views of "East Tennessee's three main physiographic features: the Cumberland Plateau, the Tennessee Valley, and across the valley, the Great Smoky Mountains."Īs mapped, park at the visitor center to begin your run. ![]() Along this 15-mile circuit, you will tour the park's four most notable peaks, including the observation deck on Frozen Head that was erected in 2006. Named after their "snow-capped appearance in colder months," this route through Frozen Head State Park is nowhere near as technical as the Barkley. ![]()
